What happens at Pulse and !mpact?
There are several elements that remain consistent for Sunday morning gatherings at Pulse and !mpact. With the exception of special events and the occasional adaptation inspired by the creative minds behind newhope's Student Ministries, every Pulse and !mpact will have (1) Games and Icebreakers, (2) Worship, (3) Teaching, and (4) Small groups.
Small Groups:
Of these elements, the greatest emphasis is placed on Small Groups. We spend countless hours building a fun and exciting environment through games and worship, and we spend even longer crafting lessons that will challenge our students and provoke them to ask deeper questions about their faith. But ultimately we believe it is through small group discussion and the development of relationships with one another and with our outstanding small group leaders that growth and change will truly take place.
When Paul wrote to the Christian community in Corinth he said:
When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power. (1 Corinthians 2:1-5)
We think that Paul was a pretty smart guy (we're pretty sure he had help!), and accordingly, we desire to follow his lead. At Pulse and !mpact, we believe that our students' lives will not be changed by "eloquence or superior wisdom" but by "a demonstration of the Spirit's power" through humble, trusting, and loving relationships among the students and their small group leaders (i.e. the amazing, clinically insane adults who give their free time to invest in our middle and high school students).
Teaching:
